2022 Data Science Africa (DSA) event was held physically, beginning on 21st July 2022, and was hosted by the Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) in Arusha City, Tanzania. The event brought together both past and new participants, offering them an opportunity to engage, learn, and collaborate within the growing data science community across Africa.
The DSA Arusha event featured oral presentations of data science applications from academia and industry, alongside interactive panel discussions that fostered meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences.
The theme for the summer school and workshop was “Data, Technology, and Community.” The focus was on enhancing community engagement in data science across Africa by empowering communities and researchers to embrace their roles in promoting responsible AI practices on the continent. Strong emphasis was placed on encouraging participation from data science communities across Africa.
The workshop also served as a call for abstracts, inviting submissions covering topics such as:
